The recent cabinet reshuffle saw a major change when Smriti Irani was shifted from the Human Resources Development Ministry and appointed as the new textiles minister. Praksah Javadekar took charge as the new human resources development (HRD) minister. Social media was abuzz about the sudden demotion of Smriti Irani whose two year tenure was mired in controversies. Either be the case of FTII or that of Rohith Vemula’s Suicide or JNU “Anti-National” Crisis, all occurred during her tenure. She was rightly dubbed as queen of controversy in India. But despite all she did took many bold steps to elevate the status of education in India. Through ePathshala all NCERT school text books from classes 1 to 12 were made available free online. All Kendriya Vidyalayas started providing SMS to alert parents of student attendance and lesson details. The recent reshuffle has curtailed scope for many of her projects. Now do you think that her replacement is wise decision of Modi government ?
